Spike Success
I've a short update for you this time. Test flights with the spikes have gone great. A few weeks ago, 3 test flights were conducted and they are holding strong. Flight 2 was pushing the high speed of the plane, with shallow descending lines at full throttle, and speed's I'd estimate at 175 + mph, with no ill effects. I'll say this much, they add a distinctive sound to the plane, especially from the front... almost a lower resonance howl to it, that sounds pretty cool. I know that the bright aluminum anchors that hold them stand out pretty strong in the below shot, but figure by the time, they get painted black, in a black inlet, with a black spike in there too, they will disappear for the most part. I've only got a couple pics for this update and no video. :( I told Jerry when we were half way to the airfield, that it was going to be a great day of flying because I forgot all my cameras, and it was. These shots were from Jerry's small camera he had with him.
