A view of the flight-line on Saturday. Clouds stayed with us the whole weekend.

JCRC members Cris Byrd and Shaun Zimmerman participated in a Heli-vs-Car race on Saturday. Both models were powered by the same engine, a Zenoah G-23. The results showed that the car was faster off the line, but the heli took it easily in a long stretch.

Contest Director Brian Nutt talking about the tough decision in picking winners for the various awards. Many wonderful airplanes flown by skilled pilots makes the choices difficult.

Pete Rosas from Concil Bluffs Iowa won "Best Sport" for his awesome flying skill demonstrated with a 35% and a 40% Carden Edge.

Dave Ragsdale won "Best Scale" for his B-17.

Jim Lanzendorf won "Pilot's Choice" for his 42% Aeroworks Ultimate biplane. This award is judged by a ballot given to each registered pilot.

Young members of the audience are used to draw the prizes.

As usual, Rick Poire from JCRC won the Pilot's Choice drawing. A Ballot from the Pilot's Choice award is drawn for this prize.

Two raffles were held this year. One was for this Hanger 9 Cap232 ARF. The lucky winner was Teri Ray of Quick-Tech Hobbies. She gave the plane to one of their sponsored pilots, Bryan Zang from KCRC.

The second raffle, for a JR 662 radio, was won by Larry Quick, of Quick-Tech Hobbies... who donated it to the clubs.

A Zagi kit was given to the pilot of the most favorite electric airplane, as chosen by the crowd at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

A Hanger 9 Alpha trainer, donated by Horizon Hobbies, was given to the youngest registered pilot.

MOVIE CLIPS

(Choose a format to view by clicking on one of the two links provided. The native format for the video camera (Olympus C-700UZ) is Apple Quicktime MOV. This version will produce the best picture and sound possible, but the file sizes are large. The Microsoft AVI files were converted using Lead Multimedia Converter and while much smaller... their image quality suffers (a lot on some movies, very little on others). If you have trouble viewing these by directly clicking on the link, try right-clicking on the link, choose save to disk, and play the video ouside the browser. The MOV files require Apple Quicktime player or plugin, and the AVI files require Microsoft Windows Media Player or similar. The AVI files are converted using an Indeo video codec, if you have trouble viewing the video.)

Take off of a full scale jet. The Extravaganza is held on the primary runway of a full-scale airport, with cooperation with the airport management.
